On 29 March 2014, our members and volunteers took part in a meeting with Anna Doborowolska, the author of the book „Photographer from Auschwitz” and with Ireneusz Dobrowolski, the creater of the award-winning film “The Portraitist.”

The meeting included the screening of Dobrowolski’s moving work about Wilhelm Brasse, a prisoner at KL Auschwitz and a professional photographer who, on the order of the Germans, took photos of the camp’s prisoners as well as documented pseudomedical experiments and the private lives of the camp’s crew. Brasse took over 50 thousand pictures, most of which he managed to salvage from the destruction during the camp’s liquidation.
